Snit

The table is inspired by the camp fire. To sit around the embers, to whittle a stick, to tell stories and to share a meal.

The legs have a simple cut on the inside, which is inspired by the movements of the whittling knife. The surface is made with the Japanese technique shou sugi ban, where the pores of the wood is closed through burning. This creates a tactile and inviting surface which begs to be touched.

We are becoming ever more numerous on the planet, and more people are living on their own. We have to learn to live in less space, and we will benefit from having space saving furniture, which can be reconfigured to accommodate different use cases. Snit can be changed from a round table (seats 4 people) to an obround, offering extra space for more people (6-8 people).
